My mom has a sewing machine. I’ve wanted to learn how to use it for the longest time but either she didn’t have time or I didn’t have time. Finally, I stumbled upon this place on Yelp and saw the great ratings and reviews.
Make Workshop. The founder and Sew Everything Workshop author Diana Rupp was the instructor at the Intro to the Sewing Machine class I took. She was so nice and knowledgable! It was a 2 hour class, all materials included for $80.
First, we picked our fabric, thread, and button for what we were about to make.
I’m a real noob when it comes to sewing. Diana was great at explaining every little detail and since there were only 8 people in the class, she gave us individual attention.

We learned how to thread the machine during class and practiced about 3-4 times. Of course, some machines are different so we’ll always have to read the specific machine’s manual first.
You don’t intimidate me anymore, sewing machine!
We pressed our products and sewed our buttons on.
Ta-da! (These are wallets, by the way, if you couldn’t tell.) They also fit my phone perfectly.
