Taj Mahal was truly a dream.
Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, it’s a white marble mausoleum. It’s famous for its perfect symmetry, blend of Persian, Indian, and Islamic architecture, and the intricate inlay of 28 types of precious stones, which cause it to change color throughout the day.
To go inside, you have to wear disposable booties on your feet so that the floors don’t get tarnished or dirtied. They didn’t allow photography inside, so I respected it. Inside, you can see the false tombs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan and intricate inlay work with semi-precious stones & floral and calligraphic designs. It was beautiful and such a sight.
I could stare at the building all day from every angle. Our guide, Abhi, took us to the back of the Taj Mahal to take more photos and there was way less people in that area, and so much more peaceful!
Truly a work of art and a photographer’s dream. The love story made me tear up!
We saw the sunset here and the smell of jasmine and sandalwood filled the air. It was breathtaking.
Before dinner, I asked Abhi if we would have time during this trip to get henna done, and to my surprise, he arranged it right away! All the ladies in the group joined in as well.
Dinner at Pinch of Spice – I got mango lassi, paratha, rara murg – I emphasized to Abhi that I would like to try “real” Indian food and not Westernized or weakened spices, so he arranged that for me! He was such a great and accommodating CEO during the entire time and really made my trip. I will never forget his hospitality and efforts to go above and beyond.
