We arrived in Jaipur from Delhi and settled in before heading out for a rooftop hangout. Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state.
The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were HUGE!
At night, we saw the magic of Hawa Mahal — we will see it in the day light as well, don’t worry.
The next day, we woke up before everyone else and took a sunrise cycle tour of Jaipur.
My roommate and I chose to sit in a Tuktuk while others cycled. I preferred that because I could take photos easily. Also I’m dangerous on a bicycle…
Known as the “Pink City”, Jaipur’s architecture and buildings really wowed me!
Of course, we had to start the day with a chai!
SO FRESH
They use these clay cups and when you’re done, you can throw them on the streets – I took mine home as a souvenir to remember the BEST chai I ever had.
Hawa Mahal, also known as the “palace of winds“
There were fresh flowers everywhere! It smelled so good.
We ended up getting samosas
The lassi was so thick and good! It was more like a yogurt texture. I LOVED EVERYTHING WE ATE!
We explored the Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, next to the hills on Maota Lake.
These buildings had me drooling – I LOVE the architecture everywhere. Built from red sandstone and marble, there were lots of intricate carvings, frescoes, and mirror work.
I did an additional visit to the Jantar Mantar observatory — they housed a collection of astronomical instruments dating back to 1727.
It features the world’s largest stone sundial, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We ended the night with a dinner and a show.
Next up — Agra.
