I took the Delhi to Kathmandu Adventure with G Adventures and it was one of the best trips of my life!
I landed in New Delhi and went to meet my driver.
She paid at the parking booth and drove me to my hotel – I arrived late night so that I could sleep and be refreshed for the next day.
Our CEO (Chief Experience Officer) Abhi was amazing – he was the person who handled every issue and taught us everything about the country along the way. He listened to everything I wanted to experience on my trip, and he delivered!
Hotel breakfast wasn’t included, but it was SO good and only $3.
Thanks to the G Adventures chat function on their app, I found out that a couple of people from my tour had already been there for a day. We met up and went to get cash from the ATMs and explore a little bit of the area around the hotel. I felt much safer then, since I was a female solo traveler and being in New Delhi for the first time was very intimidating!
We took a lot of Tuk Tuk’s during our trip to come. Traffic was chaotic, similar to Vietnam, but maybe worse? Delhi was so hectic and the streets were hard to walk on, it was quite an experience!
We passed by the Red Fort. If I had another day here, I would definitely take a tour inside.
Our group met for introductions and dinner, and I had butter chicken and garlic naan — yes I know, it’s the most Westernized choice for “Indian food”, but I really wanted to try it there! It was SO delicious. I promise I’ll have more “real” Indian food later…
The next morning, we went for sunrise at India Gate, a memorial built for Indian soldiers who died in World War I.
Breakfast – puri bhaji! SO GOOD!!!
On the way to Jaipur, we joined a workshop called Anoothi Block Printing – It was part of the G for Good Moment. Local women from marginalised communities outside Jaipur created the Anoothi Project, taught us how to create art and served us delicious snacks as well.
This was my 2nd day in India and my 4th chai. I was instantly hooked!
This was a fun side activity and we got to see some handicrafts made by the women here too.
Next up – Jaipur!
