Bordeaux Day 3: Free City Tour & Darwin (Sept 2024)

I started off the morning at L’Alchimiste and ordered a “chocolatine” – when you’re in Bordeaux, you do not dare to call them “pain au chocolat”, it’s quite a heated debate! The girl smiled at me when I said “chocolatine”, which I was very proud of…

I then went to meet up with the free walking tour and learned all about the city of Bordeaux.

I loved the details of these clocks.

Next, I made it to my lunch reservation at Le Quatrième Mur, inside the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. It was beautiful!

I chose to sit outside on the terrace.

From start to finish, everything was SO delicious!

This bread was SOOOOO GOOD.

This dish brought me to tears. Ravioli with mushroom and foie gras. I wanted to lick the plate.

Duck with amazing veggies
Framboise dessert

I took a long walk over to a neighborhood called Darwin.

In the quartier de la Bastide, this former disused barracks, is now eco-rehabilitated, It’s a unique neighborhood where there’s street art, bookstores, cafes, bars, skateboarding area, etc.

Dinner at Atelier des Faures.

The flavors were SO good. This was aubergine.

Poached oysters with peaches and herbs – words can’t describe how much I loved this.

Pork shoulder
Chocolate & strawberry with cookie brownie and nuts

With such amazing food and wine culture in Bordeaux, 3 days was just enough for a taste! I could’ve easily spent another day here. It was so charming, and much quieter than Paris. Food was delectable!
