Bogotá: Monserrate (June 2024)

We hiked up Mount Monserrate the morning before our flight to Medellin. It is over 3,000 metres high & overlooks the city center of Bogotá. I felt the altitude as soon as we started.

During the hike up to the top, I saw a lot of small snack shops and people blasting music — it was very lively!

Cloudy day

At the top there was a church with a shrine, devoted to El Señor Caído.

There were also a bunch of restaurants at the top, all claiming to have the best view of the city.

We took the cable car down for a small fee.

For lunch, we went to Restaurante la Puerta de la Catedral

It was beautiful inside. Prices were a little bit more expensive than the other places we went to, but still affordable.

After that, we headed to the airport and took a domestic flight to Medellín. It was pretty smooth and easy. We Ubered to our hotel and the Uber guy talked to us and was so excited to tell us about Medellín. I love conversing with locals about their cities.

After a quick shower, we dressed up and went to Mamba Negra, which was recognized as one of World’s 50 Best Discovery.

I loved their cocktails.

Every dish was pretty good (we over-ordered), and there was a view of the city from the restaurant. We got another round of cocktails to end the night. Highly recommend!
