The next morning, we took a domestic flight from Buenos Aires to El Calafate via Aerolineas Argentinas.
You can see that glacier blue water from the airport already!!!
We stayed at Apart Hotel Jardin El Calafate – it was a great stay! We ordered a to-go packed lunch for the next day for our ice trek. Most of the hotels in town offers this!
My friend Olivia in front of a cafe named Olivia
Our first meal was at a restaurant recommended by our hotel called Mi Viejo, and I was expecting it to be an overpriced tourist trap, but it turned out to be SO good!
This salad was SO good and SO fresh, I liked it more than I thought I would
BEST empanada this trip – juicy meat and stew inside!!
This LAMB!!!! It was so juicy and fell off the bones
Had another empanada elsewhere but this was just okay
The next day, we went on the Big Ice Trek with Hielo & Aventura. They offered a “Mini trekking” and “Big Ice” tour, and we chose the latter because I wanted to go for a longer, more extensive trek. It was 12 hours long and consisted of a 20-minute boat ride, 2 hour trek in the forest and 3 hour trek on ice with crampons! They picked us up from our hotel in the morning. I enjoyed it tremendously.
Glaciar Perito Moreno
They helped us put on crampons
The feeling of walking on ice was so cool

Crevasse
This was a really deep crevasse and we weren’t allowed to go too close to it!
Ate our sandwiches on ice during a break. This was from the hotel and it was actually pretty good.
I loved the vastness of it. At some parts we used Via Ferrata to get past some dangerous points. It was my first time using that system and it felt so cool!
