I finally got to go on the California trip of my dreams. I had been planning to hit up all these places but didn’t know when I would be able to go, and I finally did it all in 8 days. From LA to Death Valley, Sequoia and Kings Canyon, Yosemite, Napa Valley, San Francisco, Monterey, Big Sur, San Jose, and back to SFO.
Let’s go.
First stop when we reached LA: In & Out.
It was June 2023, and I knew Death Valley was going to be hot, but I didn’t expect it to be 104 degrees hot.
Saw the sunset over Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. We played around in the sand for a bit. Some parts were scorching hot.
We stayed at the Ranch at Death Valley, which I highly recommend. It was right inside the park and the room was so spacious. There was a market there for you to buy essentials and food.
The next morning, we went to Zabriskie Point for sunrise.
The sky changed colors dramatically as we watched silently in awe.
Next, Badwater Basin
The salt flat was so cool, reminded me of the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
Artists’ Drive.
Look at the different colored rocks. We walked around for a bit and it was incredible how we were one of the few people there. Otherworldly.
It started getting hot after the sun came out, so I was glad we explored everything we wanted to in the morning.
We drove 5 hours to our next Airbnb to be closer to Sequoia. I highly recommend this Airbnb – it had a great view on the deck and had all the comforts you need for a stay. Also had a laundry room!
Another beautiful California sunset.
